Why should you vote for Becky Young for District 18-B House of Representatives?
It’s very simple.
Becky Young has life experiences and the relationships needed to
make the difference for District 18. Becky, a mother of four, knows
the pressures of raising a family. She has been through more parent
–teacher conferences than she can count and knows all about
homework, paying for “emergency” expenses for school
supplies, sports, music and other activities.
By all counts Becky Young is a woman of today-someone who is in
the prime of her life. She has had a successful career as a Wall
Street financial consultant. She left the “fast track”
and changed her lifestyle to be home with her children. She is a
founding member and past two terms Chair of the Boise School District-Parent
/Community Advisory Council (P/CAC), a member of the Boise Metro
Chamber of Commerce, volleyball, softball and a debater mom and
recently a grandma.
Becky is passionate about education and has proved it by not only
working in the classrooms, but by finding her way through the process
of writing and getting legislation passed and then funded ( as a
private citizen) that evens the playing ground for all schools and
all students.
During her professional career she authored tariffs to protect
the public from computer fraud and as a volunteer she developed
a parent assisted learning program (PAL) to provide parent involvement
in elementary schools.
“Life experience is important, because it reflects my values
and how I would vote in the Legislature,” Young said. “Being
a grandmother and mother of four, I am especially sensitive to the
education and care of our children. I know the importance of recruiting
and retaining our best teachers. Idaho schools should be setting
the standard not measuring up to it.”
Becky Young also is sensitive to the financial pressure family’s
face, with high gas prices, increased property taxes and other living
costs soaring.
“I feel strongly about Idahoans receiving quality services
and I will work to provide those”, she said. “However,
I also feel strongly about keeping taxes and spending in check.
Families can afford to pay only so much in taxes.”
Her opponent has a different set of life experiences and cannot
fully appreciate the financial, educational and emotional demands
families’ experience.
“My opponent fully backs and promotes a platform that calls
for an expanded government and higher spending.” Young said.
“She has opposed legislation that supports thousands of our
neighbors who live and work in this community.”
Young says it all gets back to life experience.
“Boise’s quality of life is defined by our families,
our economic prosperity and the neighborhoods where we live. I understand
the challenges faced by our families, because I live them everyday.
My life experience as a mother, in the business and financial world
and the relationships I have developed in the Legislature, give
me the foundation needed to effectively represent our citizens.
I will continue to work hard for our community and find solutions
that impact our families.”
